Ingredients
-
8-10 chicken thighs and/or drumsticks, bone in, skin on
- 2 cups Date Lady BBQ Sauce
- 2 TBSP avocado oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Preheat oven to 400F
- Pat the chicken dry and then coat generously with avocado oil. Season with salt and pepper.
- Place the chicken skin side down on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven and turn the temperature up to 425F
- Coat the chicken generously with Date Lady Barbecue Sauce using a basting brush. Gently use a spatula to flip the chicken pieces skin side up, being careful not to tear the skin. Baste the new side of the chicken before placing it back into the oven for 7 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven, baste just the top with more barbecue sauce, and place back into the oven for 7 more minutes.
- Remove from the oven and baste the chicken again for the third and final time, then place it back into the oven for 7 minutes. The chicken should be cooked for a total of 46 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165F.
- If the chicken is cooked all of the way through but the skin isn’t crisped to your liking, move the oven rack up and broil the chicken for 3-5 minutes until it’s crisp and brown.
